I had the privilege of embarking on this incredible journey a few years ago. It all started with a desire to explore new lands, experience different cultures, and challenge myself in ways I never thought possible. Little did I know that this journey would push me to my limits and leave a lasting impression on my soul.

The journey began in Benin City, Nigeria, where I boarded a bus headed to the city of  kano. Why from Kano to Agadez in Niger. The bus ride was long and arduous, with hours of endless stretches of desert and unforgiving heat. But as we finally arrived in Agadez, I felt a sense of excitement and anticipation for the adventures that lay ahead.

From Agadez, I joined a group of fellow travelers who were also embarking on the journey through the Sahara Desert. We hopped on camels and began our trek through the vast and seemingly endless expanse of sand dunes. The days were scorching hot, and the nights were bone-chillingly cold, but the beauty of the desert landscape was truly breathtaking.

As we journeyed through the desert, we encountered nomadic tribes and learned about their way of life. We shared meals around campfires under the starlit sky and listened to stories of ancient traditions and customs. I was humbled by the resilience and strength of the people who called the desert their home.

After several grueling days of travel, we finally crossed the border into Libya and continued on to the coastal city of Tripoli. From there, we boarded a ferry to Italy, marking the end of our epic journey through the Sahara Desert.

Looking back on this unforgettable experience, I am filled with a sense of gratitude and awe for the incredible landscapes and people I encountered along the way. Traveling from Nigeria to Italy through the Sahara Desert was not just a physical journey but a journey of the heart and soul. It taught me the importance of resilience, adaptability, and cultural appreciation.

As I sit here, reminiscing about the furthest I have ever traveled from home, I am reminded of the infinite possibilities that await those who dare to venture beyond their comfort zone. The Sahara Desert may be harsh and unforgiving, but it is also a place of immense beauty and wonder that will forever hold a special place in my heart.

  1. Gaddemn shege . . .
It’s great to know you lived to tell the tale . A family close to mine knew about the death of their son, who had embarked on a similar journey when someone found an ID on him and sent it to his family . A sad one indeed.

    1. Thank you for sharing your story. It’s important to remember the risks involved in such journeys and the tragic outcomes that can occur. My thoughts go out to the families who lost their loved onec. Can’t wait to tell the story in video detail someday. A lot happened, can’t say it all in a month .

  2. I can imagine what you meant by a lot happened . . . I’ve watched several documentaries on trips through the Sahara, with corpses littering the vast lands.

One of my bucketlist is travelling through the same desert, too, but once I reveal it to people, it’s like they think I’m crazy or something . Lol !

    1. It’s true that the Sahara Desert can be a treacherous place for travelers, as evidenced by the documentaries you mentioned. But it’s important to follow your passions and dreams, even if others may not understand. Just make sure to properly prepare and take necessary precautions if you decide to embark on that journey. Good luck with your bucket list goal👍🏾!

  3. Of course, I always usually follow my gut feelings, just that sometimes you need accomplices in achieving your goals. The only reason I share my thoughts . I am looking for team members as it’s not achievable all alone.
    😆 🤣 😆
